Here is the wort brewing in the secondary fermenter:
As we discussed in this article, we prefer using a carboy for the second stage of fermentation. Besides the technical reasons, it is fun to watch the last stages of fermentation. At this point, we are waiting for the bubbles to slow down to nothing before we bottle it all up.
After 7 weeks, the bubbling is very, very slow, and it is time to bottle. We use reclosable Fischer bottles:
The Fisher beer itself is quite good, and usually pretty inexpensive, so you have a good excuse to buy some to reuse the bottles. If any of the old rubber seals are worn or cracked, discard. Also, boil the seals before you use them for your beer:
